They're not all ultra easy May 03, 2007
By Bruce W. Britton What comes to mind when you see "ultra easy" in the title of this book? All easy sudoku, right? Wrong. According to the introduction, there are 45 (30%) easy, 35 (23%) moderate, 35 (23%) demanding, and 35 (23%) challenging sudoku. According to the descriptions at the top of the puzzle pages, there are 130 (87%) "light and easy" and 20 (13%) "moderate." I haven't gotten far enough to know which is correct (and in previous sudoku volumes I have found some "light and easy" puzzles to be more difficult, and some "moderate" puzzles to be easy).
Also, be aware that, quoting from the copyright page, "The puzzles in this volume have previously appeared in Will Shortz Presents Sudoku for Your Lunch Hour and Will Shortz Presents Starter Sudoku" (100 puzzles in each book).
5 stars for the bargain (150 puzzles in this book, 75% of the 200 puzzles in the books these were taken from, at 35% of the cost), 1 star for the misleading title, lack of disclosure about the recycling of the puzzles until you open the book, and inconsistent difficulty ratings. Average: 3 stars.

I really liked this puzzle book. Will Short is a master of all levels of Sudoku.
He is the New York Times puzzle guru. The puzzles are easy to work with very little stress.
I recommend this book.
