does what it says Oct 25, 2009
By A. Frost Will Shortz has cornered the market in this genre. I'm never without one of his quick and easy compendiums. They slip easily into a small bag (you Americans say "purse"). Just like the title says you dash off a puzzle at moments when life becomes intolerably irritating and by the time you've pencilled in two certains and two probables your mind has loosed its pitball grip on angst. Because I'm an Aussie I don't know the baseball locations or team names or singers but I can do all but a couple of the clues and that's fine. The contiguities are sufficient for one to be able to guess nearly all the imponderables and when it comes to four or five words expressions - I really love these - they come welling up from some universal unconscious. We truly do share a language. Aussie puzzles assume total ignorance of the past so I appreciate the historical and literary references. And the clues which could be verbs or nouns are fun.

Challenging but not overwhelming Jan 18, 2011
By Bigfish48 I like Crosswords and this is a good book, it offers the same challenges as the Kindle Crosswords. They are Monday Crosswords, for the mentally challenged. Not too hard, but challenging. You feel a sense of accomplishment having completed the Monday Crossword puzzle, like you know as much as the Door Man at the Ritz.
