The Mammoth Book of Brainstorming Puzzles (The Mammoth Book Series)

This book is such a workout for the brain that it would be grueling if it wasn't so much fun. Bodycombe has combined puzzles involving words, numbers, observation, technical reasoning and lateral thinking into a series of mental obstacle courses. They're designed to be timed trials, so you can race against the clock or simply work through for the sheer joy of it. Some are easy and some are killers, but they're all a bit more difficult when the clock is ticking. Each puzzle is marked to let you know which part of your brain is about to be challenged.

5Can you complete this amazing IQ obstacle course?  Feb 14, 2007
The Mammoth Book of Brainstorming Puzzles (The Mammoth Book Series)
by David J. Bodycombe

Here is a very large collection of ingenious word, number, lateral thinking & visual puzzles to mount one tough challenge, in the form of a fiendishly designed mental assault course, for your grey cells.

First, you have to complete laps with 250 teasers. All these puzzles have a twist: can you spot in time? Then, 110 super-puzzles will stretch your general & puzzle knowledge to the limit, & all the while you will be charting your progress against a highly-original & competitive scoring system.

Are you fit, are you ready, can you last the course?

Frankly, I did not complete the course, which consists of thirty five laps, but over the years I have always enjoyed 'playing' with the teasers & puzzles. I often use the teasers & puzzles as mental exercises during some weekends to loosen up my mind, especially after a hard week's work.

This collection is one of my favourites. I have owned it since the mid-nineties.

5Excellent collection of New Puzzles  Jan 25, 1998
Mr. Bodycombe has gathered exactly what he said he has: a collection of puzzles to give your mind a complete challenge. In this book you'll find yourself pulling knowledge from every part of your brain, from 10th grade chemestry to the Challenger explosion to your own brute mental force. The worst part is trying to keep the dicipline needed to time yourself over each section. Overall, a very good collection of puzzles.
