Magnetic Sudoku

Sudoku, the irresistible new pastime that works like a crossword puzzle, but with numbers instead of letters, takes a giant leap forward. Magnetic Sudoku offers 200 original puzzles, both the regular 9 x 9 type and easier 6 x 6 “warm-ups,” all of which can be solved without a pencil (or an eraser) and played over and over again, thanks to the magnetic tiles included with the book. The puzzles are graded in four levels from Easy to Expert, and complete answers are provided. There are extra tiles and blank tiles, in case any get lost. And best of all, there are special placeholders that can be used to mark alternative possibilities until the definitive answer has been found.

3Fine but not great  Dec 17, 2007
By J. Andelman
I ordered this because I love Sudoku but I do not write on Friday nights or Saturdays due to Jewish legal constraints. It does the job, but not all that elegantly. The magnetic pieces come in a plastic pouch that is part of the book. But because of how the book is constructed, you cannot access that pouch while playing; so you have to use something else to keep the pieces in. Also, the pages of the puzzles are not magnetic; instead, you insert a magnetic flap, attached to the back cover of the book, behind the puzzle page that you want to use. This means that if you inadvertently move the book such that the page briefly separates from the magnetic flap, all the pieces fall off. This is the best thing I could find so I use it, and it's okay, but there is definitely room for someone to design something better.

5Great buy!  Jul 15, 2008

This is an ingenious design! I have had great fun with this. The easy puzzles aren't so easy! One thing it could do with are 9 little storage bags for all the magnetic numbers to be stored separately- it would save having to search through all the magnets to find the number you need each time.

2Tedious to use the magnetic pieces  Feb 12, 2008
By Jeffrey L. Loeb
This product allows you to solve a puzzle over and over. But I find that it is very tedious to use the magnetic pieces. For instance, in applying them to the squares.

You could use pencil, then erase. That would be equivalent.

But I prefer working in pen.
