Too easy, too much repetition Sep 16, 2006
By Cary Swoveland The pros of this books are that it contains quite a large number of puzzles, there is plenty of space to make entries and write notes, and the paper does not shred when penciled entries are erased.
The cons are two: even "very hard" puzzles are not that challenging (the "Easy" puzzles should be labelled "Really simple") and there is too much repetition (computer-generated, I expect), both among and within puzzles. As an example of the latter criticism, the upper left corner of a puzzle may be a near carbon copy of the bottom left corner. Once insight is gain on how to fill in the top left area, the same approach can be used to complete the bottom left area.
For those looking for a book with very tough Kakuro puzzles, I recommend "The Book of Kakuro #1" by Michael Mepham.
